To operate a golf cart at Fairview Beach, the driver must have a valid DMV license and a properly registered cart. The operator should also be familiar with the King George golf cart ordinance on golf cart usage.
(On June 14, 2007, the Fairview Beach Residents’ Association entered into a Golf Cart License Agreement with the King George Board of Supervisors to allow the use of golf carts).
Unfortunately, we are seeing children operating vehicles and driving them unsafely. The King George County Sheriff cannot tolerate this. If this were to continue, all rights to operate golf carts under the agreement with King George County could immediately cease without further notice. If you see a neighbor abusing the privilege, please remind them to obey the law.
The requirements for legalizing a golf cart at Fairview are as follows:
- Front head lights
- Rear tail lights
-
Brake lights
-
Side view mirror
-
Rear view mirror
-
Slow-moving vehicle sign mounted on rear of golf cart
-
Liability insurance, minimum of $50,000 per incident
-
Adequate brakes & steering
-
Speed governor (if gas) not to exceed 25mph.
Once all of these are met, you need to get an annual safety inspection performed by an authorized and licensed inspection station or dealership. C&S Auto Repair and Gray’s Service Center are authorized stations in King George. If you use a different station, you will need to complete a Golf Cart Inspection Form.
After the cart is successfully inspected, contact Shirley Buckley at the email or phone number listed. Your cart can be inspected and registered at the next scheduled registration at Fairview Beach, which will be June or July 2023 ($20 inspection fee in cash plus the $25 registration fee). You will need your inspection form, proof of insurance, bill of sale (if 1st time registration), cash for the inspection if required, and check or cash to FBRA.
