Swimming Advisories

The Health Department tests the water at Fairview Beach for bacteria every week between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend.   Go to the Beach Monitoring Map  to see the results for the state of Virginia.  Click on the “flag” just east of Fredericksburg, and you will see if there is an advisory for Fairview Beach.

You may also click on “Click here to view previous years results” to view historical data from 2004 to the present .   Click on the year of interest under “Advisories” to see when advisories were post or “Monitoring” to see the bacteria readings for each testing site.  Scroll down until you get to Fairview Beach.  An average reading above 104 cfu/100 ml prompts an advisory.

Location 1 is about 150 west of Tim’s, location 2 is 50 feet west of Tim’s, location 3 is at 2nd Street, and location 4 is at 6th Street.
